Islamic State (IS) group has implemented the death penalty on a Maldivian citizen who was working with the terrorist group.
Reports say the death penalty was implemented after an IS “Court” gave the death penalty. However, it is unclear as to why the death penalty was issued.
In addition to the Maldivian citizen, two more foreigners who joined IS in Iraq and Syria were killed off after the court sentenced them to death.
The death penalty was implemented on all three of them in April and they were killed by pushing off a building.
The Maldivian, who faced the death penalty, reportedly joined IS group in late 2014. He reportedly travelled to Syria before crossing the border into Iraq.
IS group had earlier implemented the death penalty on several others by pushing them off buildings.
The first such case was reported in the media as when an elderly man was pushed off a building after being convicted of homosexuality.
This is the first instance in which IS had reportedly killed a Maldivian. However, several Maldivians who are fighting with IS in Syria had been killed before.
