Letter on Paedophilia

Dear Editor,

Following the recent bust up of a peadophilia ring by the police, Haveeru's take on the issue has alarmingly transended from paedophelia to gay sex and finally to lesbianism.
Last night's Haveeru editorial said there was not only gay hanky panky that was going on in this country but women were actually doing it with other women and nobody sees this as a problem. I think there is a tinge of some fetish pervertism in these writers.

I think its about time Maldivian society learnt the difference between paedophilia and homosexuality between consenting adults. And I think the police also should understand the difference.

If the police intend to prosecute/persecute all gay people for sexual misconduct they should also go after all the hetrosexual casual sex going around the parks and waterfronts of Male' at night. Both are forbidden by the law.
