10-year prison sentence to pedophile

The magistrate court of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo island has sentenced a 51-year-old man to 10 years in prison for the forced sexual molestation of a 10-year-old girl.

Police said that Ahmed Saeed from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Hoadehdhoo island was sentenced on June 11.

His case was referred to police on May 19.

The court passed the judgement based on Ahmed's confession. He was charged under the special regulations that dictate the sentencing of pedophiles.

His case was sent for prosecution on May 30.
