Disgraced film star Sajna sentenced to jail for violating house arrest

MALE, Aug 31 (HNS) -- Disgraced film star Sajna Ahmed has been convicted to a two-month jail term after she violated her house arrest by going out of home on Aug 17.

The Criminal Court, in passing the sentence last Thursday, said that Sajna had confessed that she had gone out of her house on the said date. She was convicted for the jail term under the penalty “for not obeying the law.”

Sajna was placed under house arrest by the Narcotics Control Board in order to treat her for substance abuse.

Born to Fuvahmulah, Sajna starred in a string of video songs and a feature film before she got into trouble concerning drugs and lesbian sex for which she earlier received a sentence.

Maldivian film star Sajna convicted for lesbian sex

MALE, July 1 (HNS) -- Maldivian film star Sajna Ahmed and four other girls were convicted Tuesday for engaging in lesbian sex while in jail.

The Criminal Court also sentenced the five convicts for nine months of house arrest. They were each given 10 lashes on Tuesday.

The five convicts were all in jail on drug charges.

Jail wardens discovered the five engaged in lesbian sex, the Criminal Court said.
